Bucharest is sometimes compared to Berlin when it comes to the clubbing scene. It might not be at the level of Berghaim or other similar venues in Germany, but there is a very interesting club scene you must fully experience in order to get the analogy.
Trends change very fast here and as we’re doing our research for this article, we see a new one coming: hipster balkan parties that took over the city after Bucharest had years of 80s-90s parties all over (you can still find those under the brand: Nostalgia).
Before getting into parties, let’s see a top of the most hipster clubs in Bucharest. We’ve added here venues locals love and that attract a very interesting mix of people.
There cannot be a top without Control Club, one of the oldest and most vibrant clubs in Bucharest. Most local DJs play here and there are plenty of concerts of all kinds (from jazz, alternative to electronic). Their website is well maintained, so follow this for a full schedule while you are around. The club itself is split into 3 areas: main venue, the small room and a heated terrace (very important for winters).
Visiting Tuesdays makes the experience full as everything is half-priced and the club gets literally packed.
Not far from Control Club a very different music scene is well represented by this venue that is both a theatre and a club. Here you will find plenty of hipster balkan parties and a much younger public. This is one of the places where gen z feels like home. Most parties happen during the weekend, with emphasis on Fridays and Saturdays.
The building is also one of the first fully restored industrial buildings in Bucharest and is home for several venues (including a cocktail bar that made up in one of our articles).

One of the oldest clubs in Bucharest had a facelift few years ago and moved to a former interbelic factory – a great movement and impressive venue. It now hosts concerts and plenty of other events. It’s also split into few “rooms”: main venue, 3 terraces and a smaller venue dedicated exclusively top underground electronic music events. The bar is also an uplift here as you’ll find a very good selection of cocktails.
Average age is a bit higher and also prices are on the upper side here.
A combo located in yet another repurposed factory. There are 2 venues that cover both day activities (pub style) and plenty of night-time events such as concerts and parties. If you love rock music, this is also the place for you as you have the chance to see some of the best Romanian rock bands live here.
Look over their website as concert tickets are sometimes limited.
