Bucharest cocktail bar

What happened with specialty coffee shops in Bucharest after 2018 seems to have opened the door to other fine tastes as well.

Most places that made it to our selection are fairly new to the city. And this means drinks you’ve never seen before and flavours carefully crafted from the best ingredients. Bucharest might not be the place for classic cocktails, but it definitely becomes one for new age drinks.

Literally a former post office that started as a secret bar few years ago. It’s way more mainstream now, but the cocktails do remain some of the best in town. The secret? They somehow managed to get hold of the best bartenders around. You can also ask for a personalised cocktail here. Note that the place is tiny, so it’s advisable to make a reservation if you are visiting in a group.

In one of our articles about clubs in town we were talking about this strange Berlin vibe Bucharest sometimes has – and this place is living proof. A minimalist, former industrial space that can resemble a botanical garden from some angles. And of course a different level in cocktails. You won’t find the classics here, as all drinks they serve are created to be part of the overall experience.

Probably the newest addition to the scene, the name of the place speaks for itself. They serve the best negroni in town and they’ve added plenty other cocktails inspired by the Italian drink.

And although the building hosting this bar is new, we loved the detailed art-deco design that brings back a part of the old Bucharest.

Not your average cocktail bar – this is actually one of the best local bartender schools that happens to have a cocktail bar in town.

All their cocktails are carefully crafted and they always come with the most creative ways to serve those. Definitely an experience to try while in Bucharest.

This place doesn’t need much of an introduction – it’s probably the only cocktail bar in town dedicated to Gin. Although gin wasn’t a popular drink in Bucharest until recent years, the hot summers made it the perfect choice. Now everyone seems to engoy a glass of carefully crafted g&t during supper months.

Another plus: this place is in one of the oldest and least visited areas downtown, so make sure you get to wander around the streets that make the former Jewish area.
